Role of SS7 Protocol Vulnerability

SMS hijacking with target account access recovery code.
The main security vulnerability of WhatsApp is password recovery mechanism via SMS. This method allows to intercept data packet through SS7 transmission protocol vulnerability and get login and authorization password. To crack the WhatsApp password, WaTracker uses a certain sequence of actions leading to the identification of the phone number tied to the account After that, the software initiates the password recovery procedure through the access code and intercepts the sent message. Using the code received, the app authenticates into the account on the virtual device.
